The Bible was written by different people and probably edited many times so no one knows for sure if those are really his words .

i think that you are totally right. liking someone of the same sex isnt a sin. god loves everyone and it doesnt specifictly say any where in the bible that gays and lesbians and going to hell. no one knows for sure. i thin kyou should turn the other cheak when someone tries to tell you that you are sinning because of what kind of person you are interested in! if god didnt want people to like other people of the same sex than why did he make htem that way? it think you should be you and not listen to anyone who puts you down! dont ever change because of something some one says to you!

People say its a sin because they have lost true faith and become biblio-idolators.

The Bible is, while a very nice book that is the basis (in one form or another) the basis of the three great monotheistic faiths of the West -- actually a book of myths, and some of them are pretty horrid myths.

The earth is not flat, it does not have corners, and it is not established on pillars. Beetles do not have four legs, they have six. Rabbits do not chew their cuds, they have none. Ai and Jericho were both abandoned when the Israelites came to them and Jericho NEVER was walled. Oddly, though a million Jews (more or less) marched around the wilderness for 40 years and ALL died there, we cannot find a single skeleton from the march, even though we have found the remains of tribes of 200 non-semites in the same area. Pi really DOES work, and a perfectly round pool cannot be made that uses a pi of 3.0 rather than 3.14 -- it would leak through a gap in the side.

The god of the old testament, almost certainly either a rendition of one of the great Annunaki of the Sumerians or of Ra of the Egyptians, is a monster who cannot possibly deserve worship, even if real. He accepts human sacrifice, demands genocides, and wipes the faces of his priests with dung. He is, in very real terms, anthropomorphic, having a palace on top of the firmament (the dome covering the earth) where he keeps snow and hail "against the time of troubles" (war???) [If you want to read up on this type of thing, there is a fair list on the site I maintain. Go to www.rebuff.org and read the three pages under bible on the left hand menu.]

The short version of what I am saying is -- its myth. Fairy stories, like Grimm's and like Santa Claus. Furthermore, Christianity, despite what you have been told, was not HISTORICALLY based on the Bible as you know it. The canon was not established universally in anything resembling a form you would recognize until the Council of Carthage, hundreds of years after Christ. The early church had 40 gospels, but no one church had more than one book or maybe a very few. Often a gospel, or a letter -- or sometimes nothing at all. Different bishops wrote different canons, just as they had different theologies (gnostic/anti-gnostic for example). The Council of Nice (Nicea) established the creed by vote, and many things (trinity) won by only one or two votes. Divine inspiration? Not unless you count assasination, quite a few occurred connected to Nice and to Carthage.

The idea that the Bible is infallible is no different from the idea the Pope is, and it is even newer.

So, should you be concerned? No. If you want a Christian community to belong to then, if you are protestant, look for a United Church of Christ congregation, or a morelight presbyterian, or contact me and I will suggest more. If you are wanting to experiment with a more traditional liturgy, try calling your local Episcopal diocese and asking to be recommended to a parish that is welcoming to gays. Don't be afraid, just ask. If you are near Pittsburgh -- maybe not, that bishop is nuts, so is ours in Albany but not so badly -- most are ok.

Hope that all helps. Don't worry, you won't go to hell -- nor will other gay people. God knows that the Bible is a myth.

The Bible is just something for people to read and invest thier time in, just like Anne Rice or Friedrich Nietzsche. Just because some self-ritgeous chritsians (and not all or them are) believe that gay people are going to hell, doesn't make them any more correct than if I told you that the sky was truly green and that you appeared out of thin air instead of being born because your mother and father had sexual intercourse one day way back when. Just because not everyone understands your sexual orientation, doesn't mean you are going to hell. Just think of things this way: at one timein history, the earth was flat, Earth was the center of the universe and everyone who wasn't white wasn't a complete human being. Most likely this was by someone who was blind to everything that they did not like or understand. You have nothing to worry about with the whole "gay people are going to hell" thing. You have definate clue as to where you are going to when you die and neither does anyone else in this world.

The sins in the Bible are clear in the Ten Commandments. The Bible states (can't remember the passage but I will find it if needed to) that between males is unclean and no good will come from the behavior. Between females is wrong too. But not a sin.

Some Christians are wrong in condemning that behavior and should invite gays into the church. We all are sinners and will be until we die. So we are no better than each other and should not judge each other as well.

People believe it is a sin because the Bible says it's a sin. Some other religions also think so, such at Islam. If you arent a religious person then dont worry about it but if you are, you should consider what is said about homosexuality according to your religion.

Im bisexual and Im also a Christian and it is something I have to deal with daily. But it IS in the Bible that it is sinful, so I give it to God as I would any sin.

I am a religious person and I don't think its a sin , I am also gay and I believe that God love me and you as much as he loves anyone else . Being gay is not who I am , I don't define myself just as a gay man . I am many things and have many other interest , My sexual orientation has nothing to do with who I am as an individual . God made you and me and we are here for a purpose , God has a plan for us all and we were all made in his image .

God hates no one. God has given everyone a choice of how they want to live. I think I remember God destroying a whole city because of the many sinful things that was going on there. One of those things was homosexuallity. If you have a REAL relationship with God, you would only do things to please Him. Therefore you would not have to worry about what is considered to a sin or not. Sounds like to me you have some conviction in your soul, and you sound like you are trying to convince yourself its ok. Do what you want, but if you are concern about what God thinks of it, ask Him. That may sound stupid and strange, but ask Him if you seriously want to know if it is a sin or not.
I sure would not be asking anybody on here if it is or not.

God created you in His/Her own image because you are BEAUTIFUL and perfect. God does not create anyone who is not what He/She designs in the most perfect way. You are here to love and to give to your fellow humans and to the planet. You are a wonderful person and you have the right to live a wonderful life with someone whom you want to spend your life with. In the Apocrypha...the books of the Bible that are not included in the traditional Bible, there is a lot written about loving and caring gay people throughout time. Don't let narrow-minded people try to make you feel less of a perfect person. God loves you completely. You are my fellow brother/sister and I love you, too!

People think all kinds of things are a "sin." It's their way of controlling things and keeping things the way they want them. Of course there should be rules to keep civil order but when it comes to dictating with whom and how people should conduct themselves sexually, no.

And you need to stop caring what people think. Be who you are, love who you want to love and be your best self. Whomever has a problem with it, so be it, it's their problem.

God and the Bible are used by people to justify all kinds of horrible behavior - to go to war, to persecute people, and to scare people. Personally if someone were to say to me that God hates me or hates who I am then I would call them a hypocrite and someone who obviously knows nothing about God or the Bible. Throughout the Bible God tells people to "love one another" and not "judge one another."
