i want to be able to show my garden to my friends on the computer, is there a way i can do that?

Yeah, there are several ways to do that. Do you have a camcorder? If you do, you can record your garden to tape and play it back through your computer on webcam, or compress the video and e-mail it.

Of course you can but the lense of your webcam must be able to focus to the infinite.. if you were gluing a lense or a reflector on your webcam, you would be able to capture the stars..
