My hubby wants to remove his nipple piercings, but wants to know how to let them heal. Does he have to pack the holes with something or just remove the bars and let it heal on its own?

They will heal on their own. Make sure that you keep them very clean. Its very easy to get an infection while a piercing is closing because bacteria can be sealed into your body and of course no one wants a permanent infection in their nipple lol. Just use alcohol or poroxide on it a couple times a day.

Not really here to answer this question, but upon searching for my own answers (what happens after piercing removal) I found this. Ultimately I did my own research, and spoke to two piercing tech. DO NOT put alcohol or peroxide on a puncture wound. A small cut is different. Both kill everything, including the recovery cells that your body grew to heal said "wound". Go back to what you did when you first got your piercing. SSS, 2x day. Keep it moisturized. Tea Tree oil around the area. Ok to put a few drops in the SSS solution. Try to use antimicrobial soap for cleaning (dove white bar if u can't get a bottle) don't rub it into the openings, instead around it. The water i flowing will do the work for you..... Hope this helps anyone else seeking answers and stumbles across this post. Happy healing

When you remove the ring, the skin and its epidermis will eventually be connected and close, so it will be healed in time on its own. Thing of it as an ear pierce - it will close after removal - the same mechanism.

Just the thought is painful. Your husband needs to remove the bars, clean the area with an antiseptic (sorry, but alcohol works best) and the holes will slowly close over time.

they will heal on their own... my cousin took out her eye-brow piercing and it closed up like an ear-piercing... but if it's not clean it will get infected and won't heal properly... sometimes without anything being wrong with the area it will leave a mark... of where the piercing was...

My fiance removed his ring after 10+ years. The holes closed up after a month or two.

Oh yeah, he'll have the holes for a year or more. They'll just have to heal on their own.
