Question Are sex offenders able to be around children?
I'm just wondering. A male friend of mine failed to tell me that he was a sex offender with a female of 15 yrs old. Eventually, I found out and have not had him around. But my question is, I have 2 daughters ages 3 & 4. Was he able to be around them?

According to Law they are supposed to be registered as sex offenders in your state. The problem is that they could be registered and still be able to live yards within schools, daycares, ect. I'm not sure if this is exactly what you were looking for, but non the less it is still helpful. I was very surprised when I put in some local addresses and even my own on this site:

NO, he should have told you that he was a sex offender before comming around your children, all sex offenders are supposed to be registered in the state and county that they live in, yea its hard to not keep them away from children all the time but its best to keep them away as much as possible, i personally feel that they should have to carry a sign that says they are sex offenders so that others know about it, it should be hung around there neck.

I supervise sex offenders. #1. Deception is typical. Learning to be transparent and open about EVERYTHING in their lives is part of treatment. He has not been honest with you. RED FLAG. #2. to the idgit who thinks just because one victim was 15, other ages aren't at risk: Without a professional psycho-sexual assessment including plethysmograph or other arousal pattern testing, YOU DON'T KNOW if he is or not- err on the side of caution. #3. if he is under community supervision of some kind, and has a minor victim, I can just about promise you, it is a violation of his terms of release.

Sex offenders are not supposed to be around minors (anyone under 18 years of age) unless there is another adult present.

My answer would be No, I don't know the law in all states, and since his victim was 15, it might make a difference depending on which state you are in. You can always check here.

Hope this helps.

Probably has supervised visits only. Parole restrictions would state his requirements. He must be registered - check local or state website. We have both.
