Procrastination is a bad habit. You got the F because you didn't do all that - yes, boring and repetitive - homework. If you DID do the homework and understood what your were doing then you need to stop freaking out in exams. Either way, you will need to repeat this class because even if you get a D it's not worth messing yourself over even more in the next math class.

But WHY?

Well, math is a linear progression at your level. Either you master the material or you move on to material based on the material you didn't master and you dig yourself into an even deeper hole of regret and dispair.

You can repeat the math class, but move on with the rest of the classes. Some schools may be stupid about this, but I don't see the point. You should be able to move on in all the classes you passed while you retake math. That would mean that, technically speaking, you did move on to the next grade level, but you repeat math.

Motivation:

1. Math has a great influence on potential income. Multiple studies have shown that the more math a person masters, the more income they tend to make! If you need a motivator, just remember that!

2. Math is also worth money to you if you go to college. If you don't complete enough math before you enter college, you may have to take remedial math! The problem with that is that you will PAY more because you spent more time getting the math requirement done! So on the opposite end of completing more math and making more money, getting behind in math could even COST you time and money!!

Another bit of useful advice... a goal:

If you can complete enough math to work on trionometry, you should be able to take that class at a community college via school tuition reinbursement if you are still in high school. That way you have some transfer credit for your math and can get that much closer to not having to take ANY math in college!

Remember: Always do your math homework first to get it out of the way!

Well, if you do good then that's wonderful! If you do bad, just remember that there are things like tutors and summer school. Perhaps, you could work things out that way so that you can go on to 8th grade. But you'll probably have to work hard to do well in math since it doesn't come easily to you. Anyways, I hope you do good.
