I just read Memoirs of a Geisha and I LOVED it. I flew through that book. Also, "A Painted House" by john grisham, or "Lovely Bones". I forget who wrote that.

The Queen of Purgatory, by Guy Lancaster. The characters are so "real" you will think you are reading about people you know. Lancaster probes into our fears, shortcomings, and the evil nature of mankind. He also demonstrates the impact of a kind neighbor or friendly stranger. The journey is life. The life is journey.
