Some people just are not regular. I never was. Doctors can help this with medications though. Stress can cause this too. Fear of being pregnant can cause you to be late which makes you even more scared you may be pregnant. If you are not pregnant and continue to be late go see your doctor. As far as tests, my doctor told me that Fact Plus was the best one. Good luck.

Yes hormones and stress can make a period absent. Also having sex for the first time can do it as well. Another cause is starting or stopping any form of hormonal birth control. That can make your cycle go out of wack until your body adjusts to it. Sometimes there are serious health problems that can cause it as well. When in doubt you should always go see your doctor!

Also some people have a hard time getting a positive pregnancy test result. It took my sister-in-law until she was 2 months along before one would turn positive and that was using her first mornings urine AND having a doctor do the test for her. Like I said anything is possible -go see your doctor.

Oh and there is a new pregnancy test out there called "First Response" that uses a different hormone variant. It is suppose to be the best to discover early pregnancy. Supposedly it can detect pregnancy up to 5 days BEFORE your missed period -and no other test can do that as of yet!

You may have a hormonal imbalance that causes you not to ovulate. Many women who do not ovulate also have an irregular cycle.

You also may have PCOS, which is where a woman's ovaries are too large.

An increase in stress or exercise can also cause your periods to be irregular. Rapid weight gain or loss can have the same effects.

Talk to your doctor about your concerns, and he or she may be able to put you on a drug called clomid to stimulate ovulation.
