Night and Fog.

It's a relatively short (30-40 minutes) French documentary that was made in 1955. The filmmaker revisits the abandoned grounds of Auschwitz, and contrasts his footage with wartime footage of the concentration camp shot by the Germans. Images of emaciated bodies thrown in a trench are disturbing and hard to look at, but I found it was the images of everyday things, like eyeglasses and suitcases that moved me the most. The number of people killed in concentration camps is so large that it becomes abstract and impossible to grasp, but seeing an entire enormous room full of discarded eyeglasses somehow gave me a concrete idea of the magnitude of the Holocaust.

Life is Beautiful, by Roberto Benigni.
It was funny but extremely sad at the same time. Very emotional!
Also, The Passion of the Christ. I thought it was a pretty typical passion play like I've seen in other movies except for Mary, Jesus' mother. You really feel her anguish in the movie.

Definitely The Passion of the Christ- best movie ever!
Also, yes, Phantom of the Opera.... even listening to the music makes me sad.
I've heard Flight 93 is very moving, but I have yet to see that.

I saw it only once but I still think once in a while about the mother in "Artificial Intelligence" and how she abandoned the boy, even if he was a robot. And his search to become real and how I cried at the end.

What would your answer be if you weren't asking?
