The War on Terror is nothing but an excuse to bludgeon Americans with fear while enriching the bank accounts of President Bush's cronies with debts that the taxpayers will be paying off generations to come.
This thread features a lot of tough talk by armchair warriors yet I don't see them doing anything for Bush's "Worn Terra". Back in World War II we bought war bonds, rationed rubber and metal and tobacco and meat and gas, planted victory gardens, and recycled used fats for explosives. Women went to work in factories that were converted to the war effort. CEOs took dollar-a-year salaries. Homefront commandos patrolled our shores. Tax were raised. Consequently 4 years and nine months after Pearl Harbor Hitler was dead, Japan was conquered, and the UN was about to be formed.
In this War people put yellow stickers on their SUVs. After 9/11 Bush told us to go shopping. War profiteering is rampant. The war tab is now approaching half a trillion in the form of an IOU held by the Chinese and Saudis. Osama Bin Laden is hanging out in no-man's land in Pakistan. Iraq is in civil war with our troops in the way. The upper one percent just got another round of tax cuts. Most Americans care more about who won on American Idol than the War.
The War on Terror is improving the bank accounts of the upper one percent. It doesn't help anyone else. And it doesn't make less enemies because if someone wants to blow themselves up there ain't but so much you can do to stop them. The London subway attacks, the Spanish train attacks, the Saudi oil field attacks, the Bali resort attacks, and the Anthrax Attacks now so conveniently forgotten by the armchair warriors here have proven that.

War on Terror is an utterly ingenious invention. It's a green light for Bush to continue to invade, steal, control or destroy any country of his choosing, and INDEFINITELY - because there will always be 'terrorists'. It is now perfectly acceptable to call somebody fighting to protect their own country, a 'terrorist'!
The United States of America is now regarded as the single largest threat to peace in the world by the vast majority of the population of the rest of the world. Everyone else watches with dread the expanding Empire of the USA, and sees it for what it is - apart from the Americans themselves - who are being told that it is for 'freedom' and 'their own good'. Throughout history, many countries have done the same - England did it, Japan did it, hell even Rome did it. And they all spouted the same benevolent platitudes.
Make no mistake, the US is now the most feared and the least liked country on the planet today.

I think the actions of Bush are the start of the loss of american power.
By inventing a world war in response to the actions of relatively few religious maniacs he has committed the US to a course of action that is unsustainable in the long run both militarily and economically
Iraq may do to the US what Afghanistan did to the USSR, that is lead to the collapse of a politically corrupt and economically overstretched super power.
This will not happen immediately but will occur over the next generation as the inability of the US to sustain the needs of its population will be exposed by more events such as Hurricane Katrina
Meanwhile, China is looking on and waiting to take over.

Well, Let's say we do nothing except protect our borders. Then Democrats get in office and control the senate. they believe in peace, not war. So they invite the "So called Terrorists" over for peace talks, shake hands and make nice. Oh Goody, then the Bad Guys agenda that they set many, many years ago will be over. Now they won't mind us not being Muslim anymore. they will want peace too. Huggy, Huggy, Kiss, kiss, liberals are happy finally. They won't blow up a ship like the USS Cole ever again. (While Clinton was in office) they won't destroy 2 Embassies in Africa again killing hoards of innocents. (While Clinton was in office) They won' t bomb the Trade Center like they did while Clinton was in office in 1996. Yeah, Bush caused so much hell on earth. No, He's the one that finally did something about it. War on Terror will last a long time. God help us all if the Pantie Waists get in the White house. Osama would love to shake hands and make nice.

information is a ***** ,especially when it was just a few years ago that we had to watch breakfast tv due to no choice.

The war on terror is eliminating terroists and making them weaker. America's enemies primarily the terroists have always been the enemies of America, democracy, Christians and Jews so leaving them alone to commit acts of evil is not the answer as they are not just going to go away.

It is improving my world. No one committed any acts of terrorism in the USA today. Anyone who follows the teachings of Sun Tzu and Machiavelli knows it is better to be feared than respected.

I think you got a preposition wrong there. It's not a "war ON terror", it's a "war OF terror".
NB: why don't people like bungiebabe who have no idea of the world just shut up.

I think it has made the US more enemies and the "friends" of the US are starting to get annoyed with this broad war against terror.
It isn't making the world a better place at all.
