I think they cetainly made it very possible for a spin off. If there is, I doubt they would get some of their big stars back... most of them are now dead.

But honestly, I think that they did that to come back if they ever wanted to.

I want one, but I'm not sure if there'll actually be one. There was some talk about a villain spin-off. =/
