Most definitely Led Zeppelin; they are my favorite band of all time.
Also, The Rolling Stones, The Eagles, Aerosmith, Boston, The Clash, Cream, AC/DC, The Doors, The Grateful Dead, Guns N' Roses, Pink Floyd, Lynard Skynard, ZZ Top, Journey, Kansas, The Police, Queen, The Ramones, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, U2 (classic?), and Van Halen. Or, al least, those are most of my favorites.
I especially think the Eagles are spectacular!

I agree, Led Zeppelin is one of the greatest... Led Zeppelin actually got me interested in the blues, as well. The great thing about classic rock is that it's so easy to pick great bands that seemed to perform at the top of their niche in rock and roll:

Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones (blues)
Pink Floyd (psychodelic)
Eagles (country)
Crosby Stills and Nash (folk)
Queen (glam)
Santana (latin)
Beatles, and The Who (I just call them British)

A few bands of recent years can be considered all-time greats as well (U2 and Pearl Jam) for both longevity and the impact they have had on current music.

Since the question was asking about "bands," I didn't address the greatness of Peter Gabriel or Neil Young.
