Classic Rock...more of the rock and roll without the Pop influences:
1. Beatles from Sgt. Pepper on
2. Rolling Stones
3. Led Zepplin
4. ELP
Oldies...more of the roots of rock and roll
1. Jerry Lee Lewis
2. Beach Boys before their album Pet Sounds
3. Elvis
4. Early Beatles
Beatles can be put in both catagories. Many of their earlier stuff were covers of Isley Brothers, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee and others along with their own songs. In their later days, they became more of an influence of modern rock bands, and could therefore be considered "classic rock".

Beatles is Classic Rock. Oldies are groups like Buddy Holly and Chubby Checker.
Classic Rock is more progressive, lyrics use more modern literary devices such as Stream-of-Conciousness. A good example of that is a progressive rock band called Yes.
That's just a couple of points worth a mention.

Oldies are 1950's and 1960's- the birth of rock 'n roll and pop music. Classic rock is more of a genre of music, not being from a time period. An oldie can also be classic rock. The Beatles are generally considered as Oldies ( their earlier stuff like "I wanna hold your Hand" and "Love me Do") but their later stuff like "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and "Lucy in the sky with Diamonds" are considered classic rock. There is a distinctive difference, but yet it's hard to define!

It really depends on how old you r, is what i would guess your opinion would be but usually oldies is from the 50's-60's classic rock is more 70's. As far as nico.... The Beatles are pioneers of rock and roll if anybody is copying music it would b some band ripping them off...Do u even know who you r talking about? All these rappers are the ones who rip off beats from real rock, Motown and blues, u kids just think they made it up cause u never heard the original...K. West...riffs from Ray Charles, Vanilla Ice...Ripped off Queens under pressure and i heard RunDMC quote they used Led Zeppelin behind their rap b4 they found out you needed permission. Not to mention a remake of a 10 yr old song that everyone thinks "X" band wrote themselves as new. Beatles will be remembered just like Elvis

Oldies are more pop/folk from the 50s-70s. Classic rock is more musical or more heavy/deep (in musical or lyrical content). Classic rock was part of the cultural revolution of the 60s, so much of it has political or social protest in the lyrics. Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young and Jefferson Airplane are two groups that incorporated political and social philosophy into their music. Classic rock spans from the early 60s to the 70s. The Beatles are definitely Classic rock.

Oldies is music from the 50's and 60's. Classic rock is from the 70's and some even consider 80's to be classic rock. I grew up in the 80's! It makes me feel so old....but I digress. As for the Beatles...I don't know. But here's a link abotut he band that may help.

the beatles fall under classic rock. i dont really know the names of oldies but classic rock would include, the beatles, the rolling stones, cream, pink floyd, eric clapton, aerosmith, led zeppelin, black sabbath, aerosmith, kansas, boston, and the list goes on and on
but the difference is oldies are basically the pop songs from that time period whereas classic rock are the rock songs from then.
I listen to classic rock and oldies some, and the sounds different somewhat.

Oldies is 1950's to mid 60's; Classic Rock is mid 60's to early 80's. Like, Buddy Holly, Elvis, The Platters are Oldies. Beach Boys & Beatles are early classic rock (the earliest songs of both could be considered "Oldies", but most are classic rock). Led Zeppelin & Eagles are "classic" classic rock. Journey & Rush are late classic rock (their later songs could be considered 80's/Hair Band rock.)
Personally, I can't stand any of it. I like Punk, but I grew up with Classic Rock.

Classic rock for their later stuff, oldies for the stuff from the early to mid 60's...I'd say it would start with Revolver for their classic rock period.
I define Classic Rock as harder music that was popular in the later 60's- earlier 70's...Oldies could be music from the 50's like Elvis or Petula Clark from the 60's- pop music.
