You have been given a correct answer-to help you get that answer or for future calculations, this may help: If you were going 150ft. at 12 in. wide and 12 in. deep, you would have 150 cu. ft. By being 8" or 2/3ft, you can reduce the 150 by 1/3 and end up with 100 cu. ft. Divide 100 by 27(the amount of cu. ft. in 1 cu. yd)-you would need 3.7 cu. yds.
If you were doing a pour for a patio/floor-a cu. yd. would cover an area of 27 sq. ft. at 1ft. deep. For depth less than 1ft. find how many times it will go into 12 an take that figure to multiply the 27 to determine how much it will cover. Ex: 4''d. would be 3 times 27-6''deep would be 2 times 27 for a total sq. ft. coverage

If you're talking about a cubic yard of concrete. Then:

36"x36"x36" = 46,656 cubic inches = 1 cubic yard

150 ft x (12 in/ft) x 8 in x 12 in = 172,800 cubic inches

172,800 cu. in. / 46,656 cu. in. = 3.703 cubic yards
