I've been online 15 years and have never been stalked or phonecalled out of the blue. I've always stood up to idiots and cussed right back at them and nothing worse than getting booted has ever happened to me.

What you need to do is learn how to put these people on permanent ignore. I know in Yahoo you can go into your Messenger preferences and put people on a permanent "iggy list" and they will stay there. You just have to watch out that they may try to contact you using other names. Just keep putting them on ignore.

Also keep reporting their behavior to Yahoo Chat Abuse. I don't know for certain if it does any good, but I believe it has done some good.

Most of all, don't let idiots dictate your behavior or control you! You should feel absolutely safe going anywhere in cyberspace. You should feel absolutely free to do anything you want to do online, without harassment or bother or stupidity. The IGNORE function is a lifesaver.

Remember that these idiots are cowards in real life; all bullies are. Most of them probably don't have girlfriends or wives or female friends, and they feel safer, more manly, more in control when they are anonymous behind a computer. So sad, so pathetic. So consider the source: you are not dealing with someone who is very socially or intellectually or spiritually advanced if they want to bother you online. Ignore the creep and forget about him, or them.

Remember, 15 years and not a problem. It can be done.

You will never keep perverts out of chat rooms. If you don't want to deal with them you need to stay out of chat rooms.

Go invisable only except people on your im board that you know and you turst hope this helps

Put yourself on invisible. Let your friends know you won't show up so they should just im you to see if you are on.
