The best thing to do is set short term goals for yourself. I have a hard time saving money on a long term basis but if I know I need to save this much this pay check I can do that.
Each pay check just put a certain amount aside. You really do not need those new shoes or a new pair of jeans. Even if it is only $20 that adds up!
When you have enough for what you need go get it right away do not keep saving!
Just use self control.

Save any allowance or birthday money you get, do some errands for your neighbors, watch little kids, walk people's dogs, wash people's cars, clean people's garages. You can do it if you try, I know because that's what I had to do before I was old enough to get a real job.
