I read an article about deja vu a little while ago. There was a theory (I can't remember if it was supported by clinical data or not, but it was interesting) that deja vu occurred when the brain mistakenly wrote a short term memory into the long term memory banks the brain. You would thus perceive the short term memory as a long term memory. The filing error might occur when there was something in the situation or place that was consistent or sympathetic with a much earlier memory... so like a distracted secretary, your brain puts the memory into that older file instead of a new file.

I just went to a site that has more information on the feeling you describe. They had some interesting points that the feeling could be triggered by an actual early memory of a place that you now have no recollection of:

"The feeling that one has been there before is often due to the fact that one has been there before. One has simply forgotten most of the original experience because one was not paying close attention the first time.

On the other hand, the déjà vu experience may be due to having seen pictures or heard vivid stories many years earlier. The experience may be part of the dim recollections of childhood.

However, it is possible that the déjà vu feeling is triggered by a neurochemical action in the brain that is not connected to any actual experience in the past. One feels strange and identifies the feeling with a memory, even though the experience is completely new."

Nope.

But I know De Ja Vu when I see one, its freaky because it's never happened yet it seems like it has been before.

But many things can't be explained, makes me wonder to much..

And what your question is is freakishly wierd, has it happened to you? Well, if it has, it's just an unexplained wonder of the world.

Yes. I travel a lot and every city has the same basics. Not to mention, all malls look alike.
