hange.Water pump was spraying onto sensor,replaced water pump,still no change.When car does start I let it run, after approx 15-20 min it shuts itself off,real smooth shut off as if you where turning key off.Sometimes it'll start right back up,sometimes not.But good crank.Help,

mite take it to a shop and have them check your crank position sensor. had kinda the same thing going on with my old Buick, that's what mine was

There is an ignition module under the coil blocks that can go bad. Could be a number of things, but sounds ignition based. Spray some ether in it when it refuses to start to be find out whether or not it has spark.

try changing the coil, it might have three coil blocks so find out which one is bad, if thats not it try the crankshaft position sensor, or possibly the map sensor, there is alot of electrical crap to check so good luck, maybe the AIC motor, throttle position sensor, or maybe your Ignition is bad--but probably its in the ignition system like coil or starter wire or some short in there, if it heats up and then shuts off..

check the cat.converter to see if its almost cloged and check the pick-up and module.i have a 88 olds delta 88 3.8 and it was the module that was wrong with mine,but a cat. can shut down your car too.
