I just got a DS a few months ago, and I love it (before I had an original GBA). I haven't had any problems with the screen brightness, the size, or the battery life. Considering that I've only had my original DS for a few months (and that I'm a poor college student..), is it worth it to buy the new DS lite? Is it REALLY that much better?

Well, if you already have the old one, stick with it. The Lite is just lighter, more compact and brighter. Basically both function alike so just be proud that you own the very first DS version ever made.

I'm not trading in my current DS for a Lite. The improvements on the system are the following:

* Three different levels of brightness for the screen

* Longer Battery life if you use the lowest brightness setting (15 hours)

* Lighter than the original DS

* Smaller than the DS

* Clam shell design that does not leave a gap in between the two halves (so dust cannot get in there)

* Microphone is in the middle of the DS

* Bigger Stylus

* Power button is now a slider (like the volume control)

Based on that, you should be able to come up with a decision.

I wouldn't waste my money on one. I bought my DS 6 months ago and I really like it. I had no problems with it. The new DS Lite's buttons are moved around and the Mic. is in the middle. It would be hard to adjust to the movement of buttons.

Well if you already have a DS then you don't really need to get a DS Lite. Nothing major was changed on the DS lite so don't worry about it.

If your ds still works dont buy another one do something else with that $150 you would have spent on a new ds lite. There is no huge difference.

I wouldn't bother. the only problem I have with my DS is the brainage game it doesn't understand the word blue.
