The differences between "O Line" and "D Line" are significant. I was awarded an NCAA Football Scholarship , so I know a little about what I'm saying. -- Now let's think about this for a moment:
You're only 13, so you've got a lot of time to develop into what's best for you.
I wrote a paper in College that took "personality types" into consideration of their positions. -- I believe the following:
"O Line" guys are quick, large, and will give themselves up to protect the QB. - They are not necessarily MEAN, but are quick, mobile and "protective" by nature.
"D Line" guys are extraordinarly aggressive, "stone mean" and will rip your head off to get to where they want to go.
So, you need to ask yourself - What are you all about?
The fact that at 13 years old you are already thinking about how you can be the best ballplayer you can be, tells me that you are destined for great things. - You care, are willing to work hard and want to find the "niche" that suits your personality.
So, it all comes down to the type of ball player YOU want to be. The real decision is yours, not the coach.
I suggest that you talk to your coach and tell him what you're thinking. -- If he is a decent guy, you'll be in good hands and he will do what is best for you to realize your full potential.
BOTTOM LINE: We all must strive to reach our potential.
Let me know how you make out.

You're 13 years old -
you're 6'3 " tall and 246 pounds??
You have graduated to defense.
If you feel like you want to step down to O-line, talk to your coach.
Find out what you need to do to play there.
Good luck, big guy.

Offensive tackle is ideal for you, you're only 13 and you're already 6'3 240+ and you still have lots of room to get bigger and stronger. If you go with OT by the time you're a senior you could be a beast...

My God you are one big boy. If I were your coach I'd have you on the O Line to protect my quarterback. Try telling the coach that you think you can help the team better on the O Line.

Wow! You one big boy. I think they have a limit on what positions you can play that have to do with your size. At least that is how it is in Utah
