I don't think smileys (smilies, whatever) are really unecessary to answer questions. However, they are kind of cute. I think that they should be limited to personal documents and IMs though.

That would be nice and might clear up some angry feelings when you are being sarcastic. When you add a smiley people usually realize you are not serious.

that idea was quicky snuffed out..as it could lead to "chatroomisque" behavior or atmosphere..why? i dont know..it just is..
