My winshiedl on my Nissan Xterra has a crack from the bottom center of the winshiled to the center of the winshield that curves to the driver's side, it is about 12" long. It is a single crack (not spidering) that started from what appears to be where a rock hit the bottom of the windshield where it meets the hood. is there a kit I can buy to repir the crack myself rather than buy a whole new windshield? if so, where can i get it and how much would it cost? Is it easy to repair otr is it a painstaking process?

only kits i have seen won't fix the crack just the original impact mark - once the crack expands to that size its a goner. Check salvage yards - modern windshields are attached only by a bead of urethane around the opening -you might find it more affordable than you think. Urethane does have special characteristics you will need to buy the right stuff from a supply store sells for around $15 a tube.

I was told that if the crack was longer than a dollar bill the whole windshield needs to be replaced. It is go with Safelite glass they will come to you house and repair it. also, if you have good insurance and don't mind filing a claim, they cover this kind of thing.

A cracked windshield is beyond repair. It must be replaced. However, a stone chip or bruise can be repaired as long as it hasn't started to crack. See a local auto glass dealer.

Almost any auto glass replacement company can repair it if a dollar bill will cover it. It takes about 15 minutes and your insurance will probably pay for it.

With a crack that long, you will need to replace the windshield.

Any crack that you can not cover with a quarter is too long to fix!

Can't be repaired and might try your insurance company. they will know if you have glass on your policy. If you do, you will only have to pay the deductable,if that.
