It could be hormonal, perimenopause which is the time before menopause and some women have drastic night sweats during that time. It could also be a thyroid problem, hypothyroidism makes you feel hot and sweat alot more than normal. Have you been tested for thyroid, diabetes, and/or lupus? Autoimmune problems can cause the sweating too.

Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia) is one possible explanation. LBS is one of the many pre-diabetic conditions and is one of the results of hyperinsulinemia (high blood insulin).

Check out www.hufa.org for suggestions on tests to ask your doctor for.

In the meantime, eat a balanced snack just before bed tonight. If you are not allergic to any of this - one hard boiled egg, a cracker or cookie and some nuts, almonds are best, but macademia or peanut are good too. See if that helps reduce the sweating. If so, you are on the right track with the potential diagnosis of hypoglycemia.
