I do this all the time, but I finally found a product that has worked for me. Spray & Wash Dual Power stain remover. Make sure you don't wash the garment first! Hold the bottle amount 4 to 6 inches away so when you squeeze the bottle the to chemicals will cross when it comes out. It usually will start to foam on the material. Leave on for about 5 minutes and maybe take a toothbrush and scour it in. Then just wash as usually. I have gotten mustard and many other hard to remove stains out with this product. Resolve also makes a similar product, but I haven't tried it yet. Spray & Wash Dual Power has worked on my carpet stains to! Good luck!

I know I have gotten mustard on a white cotton shirt at a cook-out before. I immediately took the shirt to the bathroom, used a little soap and cold tap water on a clean, white washcloth and the stain came right out. However, I'm not sure how to get out a mustard stain that has "set in". Maybe someone has a suggestion. By the way, what type of material is the shirt. You have go be careful with silk. Water on silk can stain it permanently. What does the manufacturer of the shirt recommends?

Pour some dishwashing detergent on it. Let it set and wash the next day. It really removes greasy stains.

try white vinegar on linen, or ammonia on cotton. Clorox 2 makes a good pre-treater if you want something like that.
