What is that tickbox there for? If you are offline what's the point? How can internet sites be made available offline if they are only available through the internet?

Only select pages (not requiring interaction with the server) can be synchronized offline. By making it available offline, the computer stores a file containing the data of the website page you visited at the time of synchronization. Usually, this feature is not very useful, though if the site is used as a report reference, (e.g. with only informational text that does not change daily), it is a good way to go so you wont have to connect to the internet each time you need to use that reference.

If you have a dial up connection, you can't view a page on the internet without connecting. If you make it available offline, then even if you are not connected, you can view that web page as it appeared as of the last time you saved it.

If you "make it available offline", your system will copy the web site onto your hard drive. You won't be able to click on any external links on the site, but you will be able to see/read it.
