If you're really interested in getting the job, your best bet would be to do follow-up calls with all of them tomorrow afternoon. Ask to speak to the hiring manager and if you get that person on the phone, ask them if they've had a chance to review your application yet. Just be professional and polite, but especially be respectful.

When I applied at the grocery store, it took about a week after I turned in my application. If you filled out a paper application, give it a few days- the hiring manager may not have had the chance to look at the application- may have not been working or other reasons. If you have filled out an online application, you could call, and ask to speak to the hiring manager, and ask them to check on the status of your application. I would at least give it to Tuesday or Wednesday. It does sometimes take a while.

I think what you should do is give it 2 more days. Weekends are hectic times for all businesses. If you still haven't heard anything, call the places that you applied to, and follow up to amke sure that the application got into the right hands. To an employer, this simple act shows that you have real interest in the job.

I mean this with no offense, but based on your skill level and the low skill requirement of positions that you would find at paces such as those, if you don't hear in a week, I'd move on.
Conversely, I work in a high skill trade with some stiff competition. For my current job, it was a month before I heard anything, another 2 months beyond that before I was hired. I once got a call on a job that I had applied for a year previous.

Employers take as long as they want to respond. It could be weeks or months, depends on how soon they need to fill the position.
Don't sit at home waiting for the telephone to ring. Apply to other companies.
Good luck.

In my personal experience i have usually had to wait about a week for a reply from a written application, but i should imagine if you haven't heard anything by about two weeks then you are probably unsuccessful, but all companies vary in their approach to applicants.

I usually call them and tell them I want to talk to the manager and when they answer I tell them I am calling to check on the status of my application and if I can schedule an interview. Works for me.

If any of the places that you applied to were advertising that they were hiring..... I would say that you would hear from them in a week or so.
If you just went in and applied with the chance that they need someone, It could be a while before you hear from someone!
P.S. Go back to school!
