I'm not a chevy guy but I can help. The sb 400 has a lot of low end tourqe and you don't want to rev them too high unless you buy a real good lower end. Aluminum heads are allways good. for the car it's self lighten the front end as much as possible(if it's just a drag car there's lots that can be done) if it's a daily driver then theres little things you can do that won't hurt performance. Let's go with stictly drag car, get rid of everything under the hood you dont need, drag shocks are good. posi with super tall gears 4.11's or higher cause your only working with 1\8 mile. There's lots more to go into about this but I don't have a clear picture of what your doing with this. Message me if you want some more ideas (include a email add.)

Put in a titanium crank and roller cam/rockers. That will loosen it up enough to allow it to give you what you want. Plus it will cut the weight way down. Talk to someone who builds Outlaw sprint car motors and they can get you everything you need.

Put a 350 crank into it to make a 377 d stroke. Redlines at 9000rpm. If with right heads, 1.60-2.02 valves should be able to run 560 hp.
