I think he's an excellent player, but prone to mistakes at crucial moments.
Many people haven't forgiven him for being sent off for retaliating against simeone when England played arch-rivals argentina at France '98 - I think he's redeemed himself a few times since then - AND simeone thouroughly deserved that kick - it just wasn't hard enough!
As for the rest of the team, Despite the strictly average performance against Paraguay (which I put down to "1st night nerves). I love them all because I'm english! Owen is lightning fast & the ball clings to him like it's made of velcro (until he puts it in the back of the net). Rooney (who we may or may not see play) Strikes fear into the heart of opposing defenders.
Crouch is a giant even if you ignore the fact that he's 6'7". Others like the 2 coles, Lampard & gerrard are all superstars, and as a team I really believe that we are a force to be reckoned with.

They didn't play a beautiful game yesterday. But, so far, they are one the best three teams. Just because the looked like a balanced team. Beckam used to be a very good player, now is just mediocre.

Just to clarify, it gets called "soccer" in Britain as well. Soccer is an abbreviation for "AsSOCciation football" (can you find the Soc in there?).

I remember watching England play against Germany in Euro 96... and from that moment on I've watched England play whenever I can. I only watch soccer games that England are playing in and support them whenever I can. Of course I like my home team - Three lions!!

Hi..In the past I have thought David Beckman has been overated, but this world cup his experience is defiantly now paying off....did you see how he set up the goal against Paraguay?..wonderful..."Go on You England"
