If they left meat in it, you"ll probably never get all the smell out. There are seams & crevaces where the juices from the meat ran that you can't get to.
Clean it the best you can with 409 or other cleaners, then you can try to mask the odors with sprays. You can try to absorb some of the odor by putting a trayful of about 20 charcoal briquettes inside.

All of the answers are good, bleach and baking soda should work, in addition to adding a box of opened baking soda in the fridge add a couple of pieces of charcoal in a bowl which also helps absorb odors. Good Luck

Yeah, all the answers about cleaning it with bleach and Lysol and such are great, as well as putting baking soda in the fridge. I think the landlord should have been a little more choosy with the way the place was/smelled. Sorry about your bad luck with the fridge, but good luck cleaning and with your new apartment!

When my sis-in-law had this problem, she tried many things. What worked for her was wiping down the inside of the fridge and freezer with vanilla extract. Keep a box of opened baking soda in the fridge and freezer after the vanilla has taken the bad smell away. It did take a few days for the vanilla to work, was well worth it.

First, put in a small bowl of coffee grounds and give it a day or two. Then put a couple of used dryer sheets in along with a bowl of baking soda for a day or two.

Use a sponge and LOTS of baking soda. It will work. Just scrub it out. Non toxic too.

well i heard that as soon as you clear everything you should use baking soda and scrub all around, with water, another thing you could do is go to wal mart and get yourself one of those bombs, that remove the smell that should also work
