The Internet is the pathway. Like the Interstate highways are the pathways around the country.

The World Wide Web is all the sites you will find along the pathways. Just like all the buildings and businesses along the Interstate Highways.

Hope this make sense for you.

The Internet is the collection of all computing devices which are networked together. The "Web" has traditionally meant the World Wide Web, which originally meant software programs, such as web browsers and servers, communicating via the HTTP protocol for the purpose of distributing and displaying pages of information to users. The two terms have eventually come to mean the same thing, but only because most of the users do not know anything about the history or the technology involved (this isn't a criticism; just the way it is).

Yes... and no. The Internet is a massive network that connects millions of computers globally, much like the wire-based global telephone system would have been 20 years ago. This allows any 2 (or more) computers that are connected to the internet to communicate with one another. Information is exchanged through various protocols, or universal "languages" spoken between computers. The world wide web makes up a large portion of traffic on the internet. It is a means or "language" of communication using http (hyper-text transfer protocol). Http uses Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox/Mozilla, Opera and other web browsers to exchange digital text, sound and video information in one of these "languages" spoken on the internet between computers. Other means of communication between two or more computers would be ftp (file transfer protocol), UseNet (newsgroups/bulletin boards), email (SMTP or Simple Mail Transfer Protocol), and Instant Messaging (IMS).

Yes. The World Wide Web is a "vehicle" which runs on the Internet.

All electronic banking, credit card purchases, etc. information systems use the Internet to send and receive data.

The web uses the Internet to send and receive data in the form of HTML, XML, etc.
