Sometimes stupid questions can be sheer entertainment and relaxation. Not always wanting to uncover a truth, use logical deduction, fact based answers. Pontificate on, or even solve the world's problems. Many highly educated people in many fields of expertise do that all day long and into the night, why not answer a question that takes no more thought than a yes or no. Some of the jokes and riddles that show up in my e-mails are from doctor's lawyer's, engineers, and teachers. If you read answers in all the categories, there is a tremendous amount of good answers, help, advice and facts, that are being given. Obviously you are doing it too, otherwise you wouldn't know you are asking a stupid question.

The stupid questions are easier to answer for the points than if you ask a real question that some people might not know the answer to.

I think the stupid questions are answered more because they are easier to answer. They don't have to think as hard lol. It's to bad really because the good questions really need answers, not stupid answers. To bad.

He who asks (stupid) questions
can not avoid the answers
But for the good questions
Questions are the answer!

It's a matter of preference. What you may think stupid may not be so for others. You may be touching other people and inspiring them with thought through your "stupid questions" and in that case, your questions are not so stupid after all.

I guess this would count as a stupid question.
I think because anybody can answer a stupid question but not everybody can answer specialist subjects.

in my opinion, this is so because people find it to be more fun when answering stupid questions then having to think about the serious ones :p ...
