I don't understand why so many people have hate for those who aren't 'straight'...What business is it of anyone else's anyway what two consenting adults do in their bedroom? And why do the GOP hide behind the Bible when they create anti-gay legislation, when there is supposed to be separation of church and state(which is a fairytale when the GOP is in power!)

Sadly many people fear what they don't understand. Also they try to scare people with what's going on in the bedroom (which some people don't understand therefore fear) when their is so much more to relationships, any relationship. Plus love and sex are natural. And I don't know why they hide behind the Bible because it doesn't say anything bad about GLBTQ people. God is all about love. As for the last one I will be voting for a new Pres for 2008, not that I voted to put Bush in office last time... and I don't even say I told you so when Bush tries to take away human rights and lower taxes for the rich... not often anyway.

People are scare of anything different from what they are taught is normal. My mother included. Someone told her that "gays" are going to hell, and man oh man she really just feels the need to share that with anyone who will listen. Her problem is religion just like you said. I keep telling her that lots of people are going to hell and she is included if she doesn't stop judging.
I think the only people who have a problem with anything not straight for the most part are the older generation. younger people have a different tolerance to all things in general. You will always have religious conservatives, but education will decrease their powers in the state. I am conservative somewhat so I am not saying these leaders are bad, they just take everything to such extremes. I think they should open the bible and read "treat one another...." or simply live and let live.
Unfortunately things are not going to change for a long time, history has taught us that people are discriminated against on a large scale. I think that is changing, but no one in our lifetime will ever see the results, the world is slow to change.

I think a lot of it is taught. Fortunately, some people are able to think for themselves and decide it is wrong to hate people because they are gay. It's too bad everyone hasn't evolved, yet. There are still so many hateful, spiteful creatures who are proud of their own ignorance.

I find it amazing how some people can change, though. My family used to always talk about their hate for gays. When I finally came out, their views started to change. Now, they are much more open minded. They love me and know that I am a good person and they have a much better understanding of homosexuality.

That gives me hope that the rest of the world can change. It will take time, but maybe....just maybe.

For number years the GOP used the fear of communism as the threat to our country and how it would destory us. Never happened and now communism is no longer a threat. Now that the GOP is controlled by the religious right they have used threat of the Gay Agenda on America. Using fear to divide America come this November they will attempt to use issue of gays to secure victory in November. This time voters must wake up and vote to deny victory to bigots of the GOP>

Because even though there is supposed to be a separation of church and state most Americans only believe that of every religion but theirs, and sense Christianity is the dominate religion in America, Christianity dominates politics. To answer the first part of you question, I'm not sure that they hate us so much as fear us because they think that we're so different from them that they find us threatening. They forget that we (Gay and Straight) are more alike that we are different.

The reason is because they don't understand why people are like this. I mean My cousin is a lesbian and she doesn't understand why either. I don't really either, but the thing I do understand is that it is becoming increasing popular for teens to come out and admit it because all of their peers know it and they are tried of getting picked on. Ask the people who have some thing against gays or lesbians if they would like being pulled out from the rest of the normal people standing right beside them even though the person beside them is gay and they are the one who got pulled out?

I've been out of the closet for a long time now. And all this jibberish from homophobic straight assholes and biatches I just ignore. Coz basically these are just ignorance. While these are happening, I feel closer to what happned in the X-men movies. the humans and the mutants. the straights and the queer. And thinking bout that, Ive always wanted to be a mutant. Mutants are special. Queer is special. Am I making sense? hehe

Thats the reason "religion" The GOP is trying to tear down the wall of separation between church and state.

As a crossdresser who has jsut started to go out dressed it is still scary because who knows what or who will hurt me just for being myself. I am not hurting anyone and what i do INSIDE my home or INSIDE the home of my partner is OUR business.

People need to stop following religion for it only influences negative attitudes towards people that are not heterosexual and alternative lifestyles

I don't understand it either, that is why I'm moving to Canada. I guess there is no true separation of church and state really. I don't know why so many people care what 2 people do in the bedroom.......................
