These people DON'T consider raccoons as pests ... maybe the biggest pests are human beings who don't respect other animals, lol ;-) Hope you enjoy this site -

Raccoons can be raised domestically, but they can also be pests. As everyone knows they can get into garbage. They like to eat your cat food or dog food if you keep it outside. If you have chickens or rabbits, they like to kill them and eat them. And for cattle raisers, they like to pull the plug out of the automatic watering troughs causing the water to run all night, running your well dry if you live in the country or costing you a ton of money if you have city water. Most people think of raccoons as really friendly, which they can be if they are raised up around people. If you ever see a raccoon caught in a live trap and come close to it, you'll realize how mean they actually can be though. They'll hiss and try biting you. Raccoons will also often attack cats if a cat is kept as an outdoor cat. Sometimes the battle scars on a tomcat aren't from fighting with a cat, but rather a raccoon.
