I've found that the more stuff you list, the more traffic your items receive. Sometimes a person is searching for an item and then goes to "view other auctions" and finds something totally unrelated to bid on. Grouping like items and listing them all at the same time helps, too.
Start off as low as you possibly can and let the bidders take it from there. Don't overcharge on shipping & handling! Customer service is very important. Keep your buyers happy....they will leave you good feedback. If you don't have a good reputation, this will scare off potential buyers.

Yeah I hate that too! Something that I've learned is there is the right time to sell. I normally sell textbooks so i typically only sell at the beginning of fall and after Christmas. Maybe sell boots in the winter.

Do some research on if similar items are selling on eBay to see if there is a market. If there isn't a market, you'll need to improve your photos, keywords, description, and lower the initial bidding price. Hope this helps!
