Yes, there is follow up care that needs to happen and there are some complications that could happen and if there is nobody aware of the fragile health at that point, there could be terrible consequences. I also think that birth control should be available to anyone with out parental consent though. (Condoms, the pill etc.)

I think parental consent should be required. Teens sometimes feel alone in their situations but their parent may be more understanding than they think. If complications occur after the fact how would the teen seek help without the parents knowledge. There are alternatives to abortion and a parent can lovingly assist you in exploring these options. At least they care (most parents) about you and your well being.
Long story short, yes parental consent should be required.

I definately think that perental consent should be rerequired for kids under the age of 18. I mean at 16-17 or even younger you are a kid. You dont realize what you are doing. You dont know the risks or fully understand the emotional issues. You dont know things like having abortions can cause miscarriages later. You dont know the feeling of regret and emptiness you will feel when you have killed your baby. i do think that a parent or gardian should be envolved. If not giving consent at least notified.
As for the comments on a baby ruining your life you can give it up for adoption and not kill it. People who want to adopt will wait years sometimes to get a kid. I mean seriously they really want a baby why not let them have it.

Following Sarah Beth's post: True, it's not the baby's fault but the baby isn't born yet. Why should the girl just ruin her life in order to bring another life in the world to ruin? My advice: stop worrying about the unborn and start worrying about your fellow humans.
And to answer the question: unless you are emancipated from your parents, you need their consent to have a legal abortion. I happen to agree with this law because parents need to be involved with it. The girl may be terrified of telling her parents but if she gets an abortion she will be seriously traumatized for a while.

No. If you require parental consent, do-it-yourself abortions, and killing a child after it is born will become more common. For an issue such as teen pregnancy, which it difficult for all involved, women should allowed to use their own judgment in what to do. Also, a parent should not be allowed to force their child to have the baby. It's the teenager's body, and they should have final say in what happens.

yes because an abortion should only be used if the mothers life is in great danger, not to get out of something that you could have prevented by use of a condom, the parents should go over the options with the teen and let them know that abortion should only be used in the most extreme of situations and that the child can always be put up for adoption, abortion should not be a way to hide the fact that your out screwing around and got yourself knocked up, if your not ready for a child, then dont have sex at all

No, but I think they should have to go see a therapist for a while to talk about the situation. If the teen is not in a situation to have a baby, the parents should not have the option to ruin her life by making her have the child. What kind of parent would she be if she was forced into something she didn't want? On the other hand, she needs to be talked to long and hard about how difficult it is to let go of your child. You have a pain that never goes and way and you always wonder "what if"...

First of all, if you are underage, you are not a women but a child. And I think that yes their should be consent because that is a life that is being killed. So, therefore just the thought of it should be consented. God brought us in this world and it is his choice when its time for us to leave.

Yes. And the reason I say this is because I am a mother of a 4 children.I would want her to feel she could come to me , even if she didn't have to have consent. But I would want to help her with her decision.Children can't decide on life or death situations, and this would be death of her child.

I think the mother of the child should take care of her problems unless she wants her parents to be involved. Other than that, it is her life, her body, her decision. If she can make the choice of taking the risk of having a child at her age, she might aswell be able to handle that decision herself too.
