Times New Roman, Arial, Garamond, Trebuchet MS, or Verdana, at size of 12 (or 11 based on original fotn design).
Readability and neatness is key in an essay paper. Remember to double space your paper, and include indentations where are needed, and margins. (Preferably 1inch top, bottom, left, and right sides).

Like the others have said, Times New Roman or Arial should work. Teachers prefer a font that's easy to read and a bit more formal than most fonts. The preset font is usually the best to work with.

The standard is Helvetica or Times New Roman in 12 pt font, but if you have to have an essay that is a certain length in pages, and you are having trouble satisfying that length requirement, use Courier New in 12 pt font.
Remember 1" margins on all sides and double spaced.

Times New Roman, 12 font, exactly like it comes up when you pull up Word. Some teachers like single space others double. Usually they will say what to use on their syllabus or directions for the essay.

it matters what you choose because sometimes it might be hard and your teacher might not read it well and if it's a font that anyone can read with no problems, your teacher will be very comfortable with it!and let the font be uncurvy or not too much sloppy and pick on that is very-easy reading!for example times of new roman or the ones that are easy readed(you can see the examples on microsoft work!LOL that was long!LOL

From a teacher's point of view, don't use something curly or cursive. Tahoma, Verdana, Comic Sans are all good. Do not use a pale color ink, use black or dark blue. The font size should not be smaller than 12. Double space.

Most professors and teachers require very specific guidelines for paper format. Times New Roman font, size 12, double spaced, one inch margins. Basic header on each page with your last name and page number. Header on the first page with your name their name, class, assignment and date and a title above the text on the first page. However, your teacher may differ. Most require this. Good luck!

Try Times New Roman or Arial...they are easy to read and most teachers like them. You'll be taken more seriously - and get a better grade - if teachers can easily read your essay.
