I have been told that 19 is a hand that is not possible. But if I have (2) fives, (2) jacks, & a five is the upcard, is that not 19?

You will have 23 points if you got one for his nob as well
its 14 points for 15`s
its 6 points for the prial
and 2 for the pair
and 1 for his nob

making 23 in total, though this isn`t the highest possible score, which is 29 points.

It's an 18 point hand unless one of the jacks is the same suit as the up turned 5,then you get another point for "Nobs",making it a 19 point hand.

15's = 14
5 5 5 pairs =6
j j pair = 2

the total is 22 not 19

maybe u forgot the 5 5 5 adding to 15 as well each jack has 3 5's to make 6 points each = 14 plus the pair of jacks and the 5's pairing with each other= 8

hope that makes sense decided to reexplain just incase
