Most screens are seperate units from the mail window. They will be framed in either wood or metal. In either case, it should be fairly obvious how to remove them. A screen that is integral with the main window is another story.

Some single hung (the top sash does not move up and down) metal framed windows have the screen attached directly to the main frame of the window. The screen is stretched over the opening and a vinyl screen spline is rolled into a groove in the frame to hold the screening in place. The excess is then trimmed off. If this is the case, once you remove the screen, it will be difficult to reinstall it.

I know what you want to do. We do not deep screens in our windows when the weather is nice enough to keep the windows open. The rest of the time, we remove them in order to have a clear view.

Good luck with your problem.
