I've lived here for almost 6 years and I can say I've never gotten bit by a mosquito. But one time my friend's kids got a bunch of mosquito bites, it was strange since I'd never really seen or heard of anyone getting mosquito bites here. Just bring the repellant or Avon Skin So Soft, just in case. And it's finally getting hot and sunny here so bring your sunscreen. Actually, buy a German brand of sunscreen, we used a German brand last year and it was excellent. Enjoy your trip, Germany is beautiful!

I live near the Rhein and after 3 or 4 nights where I got bitten multiple times I put up a mosquito net. But I don't think it is that common, certainly not enough to spoil a holiday if you don't bring any repellant.
