I am getting alterations on my bridesmaid dress 6 weeks before the wedding. In those 6 weeks I would like to lose some weight but I still want the dress to fit me right for the wedding. If I lose 10lbs will the dress be too big? It is a strapless form fitting dress.

The place only alters the lastest 6 wks before a wedding...unless I can find an independent seamstress...don't know how to go about finding one.

well, if you really do lose ten pounds, the dress will almost certainly be too big. Look in your local yellow pages under "tailors" and you will find someplace that will alter in less time, but you will probably want it to be altered two weeks before the wedding, just to be sure.

It depends on how large or small you are to begin with, but I think 10lbs would be too much for a form fitting dress. You will look better with the weight on wearing a dress that fits you properly, and you DO NOT want to be worrying about a strapless dress slipping down. I wouldn't lose any more than about 6lbs after the fitting, but stop the weight loss if you seem to be losing it from around your ribs and bust.

why dont you wait to have your dress altered alterations only take a few days then you will know for sure if the dress will fit!! is there a reason you need to have it altered now!! if not then wait abiut a week before the wedding! have fun at the wedding!!

no, i think the dress would still be fine, because it is your waist that holds up the dress, and the weight does not come off of your waist first thing. besides, they always seem to alter the dresses too tight for people's bodies anyways, so if you lose weight, it might fit you just right.

First of all, I don't think you will lose 10 pounds in 6 weeks. But, it depends. Most likely will, it may have a little more room in the tummy, but not loose. Besides, 10 pounds is more like weight, not quit body fat.

No matter how much weight you lose, you still won't old a candle to the bride, on Her Day...why try to lose weight when you can love you just as you are...in fact, you are beautiful, too...

so you want the dressmaker to calculate what size you think you will be

who is to blame if you cannot make that weight?

get it altered 1 week before

well, you must know that women lose weight in their boobs first, right?? so i don't think that a topless dress will fit you properly if you lose weight AFTER you have the dress fitted...try to think about these things...
