I live in Oklahoma, and I want to get "divorced" from my parents. Not emancipated, but to where the support me financially. They've abused me for too long.........and I don't want to deal with DHS, or Foster homes, or anything like that. I'm 15-divorce parents.

Why should your parent support you if you want to be emancipated?? If you dont want them to be your parents anymore, then you need to learn to take care of yourself.

Divorce as a legal term in family law only applies to marriage.

Emancipation is a process where a teenager can demonstrate to the court that they are sufficiently mature and sufficiently able to take care of themselves (including financially, without help from parents or family) that the deserve to be treated as an adult.

If you want your parents to support you financially, you're not probably talking about emancipation. And you probably don't have any legal recourse, short of filing a formal complaint for abuse.

Or taking the radical approach of sitting down and talkin with your parents. In a surprising number of situations, that actually helps.

Whenever your legal rights are in question, you should consult with an attorney. Family law attorneys are generally available at no cost to teenagers where issues of abuse can be raised.

First of all Hire a Lawyer

Emancipation is where you are considered Independent
They would pay nothing

DHS is usually more abusive than any parents would be

You would need a job and continue your education to get Emancipated in most states

Like I said at first - Get a good Lawyer

You can get emancipated if you can prove to a court they have mistreated you but you also have to be able to prove to the court you can support yourself financially (if you want to avoid foster care). For some reason I don't think your parents really have abused you. I suspect all you want is to do as you please without any discipline and your parents to continue to support you.

hmm... been there done that, its almost impossible even when you make more money than them, and have been in random foster care placements for the last 6 years. i'm sorry, but i think your best bet would be to just live with it, as long as they don't kill you like mine did to my older brother.
