Every labor is different... it depends on how big is the baby and how big you are... Also it depends if the doctor "helps" you by accomodating the baby as it comes out...

I had a natural birth of a baby 8 pounds and 4 ounces.... very big baby... It was painful because I did it all natural with no drugs... But I would do it all again the same... The recovery was much faster than a c-section. ( I was walking the same day) and by using no drugs it was better for the baby...

No experience is the same. It is painful for everyone, some more than others. There are too many factors to put a rating on it. It depends on genetic factors, your build and bone structure, the size of the child, whether or not you have pain medication, how the baby is positioned etc. etc. etc.

Having delivered four babies naturally, without the intervention of pain medication I can tell you it really hurts!! I don't know that there is anything one can compare the pain to. The labor pains I guess you could say resemble the worst stomach cramps you have ever had with the stomach flu. Pushing the baby out, well there is nothing to compare that to.

I think that nature has a way of making the memory of the pain subside in your mind after it is over -- must be to ensure the continuation of our species. I remembered though when I went in to labor again, lol. OHHH BOY, here we go again. And for most, after getting to see and hold the baby, it was worth the pain.

Think of the most awful pain in the world....something 6 to 7lbs coming out a whole 1/2 that size...sometimes you will rip from front to back to make room for the baby to come out, then you will have to deal with stiches down there until you are heeled, not to mind you while you are pushing yourself you can strain and some women get hernia...so then you will deal with that... other then those few little set backs ITS ALL GOOD.
