Really easy. Just wet it with a sponge and scrape it off. It is actually just beads of styrofoam or drywall compound and once it's wet it will scrape off very easy. You may have some patching to do after it is removed. Just use a wide putty knife and drywall compound to fill in the imperfections and you are good to go.

With a spray bottle of warm water and a wide putty knife. If you have a garden sprayer fill with hot water , cover all the floors with tarps , spray the ceiling with water and scrape with wide putty knife . Do a 3 ft section at a time wet and scrape . You might need to spray and let sit for a few minutes . It is messy but this will remove the cottage cheese from the ceiling

If you are refering to Popcorn Spray a wide putty knife is good but makes a large mess on the floor and then sand the rest down smooth

Cottage cheese can be removed easily if it has not been painted. If someone has painted it with latex it will be impossible to remove. It happened to me, lol.

I would use a large shop vac and use the widest attachment to follow the scraper you are using to minimize the mess, or have someone else follow. I would be best if the scraper was about the same width of the vac attachment.
