Don't buy videos. Statistics show children watching TV before the age of 2 can inhibit learning not only early on but later in life as well.

Buy classical CD's like Mozart, Beethoven, Bach, etc and play them all through the day and even while your little one sleeps. Stats also show classical music enhances brain activity, and therefore furthers the learning process.

Also toys with lights and sounds stimulate the senses, and therefore the mind. Good luck!

I'm not a parent, but my friend has five kids and she and her partner made a decision to never talk down to them. I have never heard her say goo-goo talk to the baby, and when they are a bit older, when they ask why the sun shines, they get a physics lesson!

The child asks more questions, and the parent patiently explains in language they can understand, but also using the proper terms for things. Her kids are SO smart and in the top of all their classes. Anyway, I'm impressed by this approach, though it is unusual. I'm not sure how this applies to your question, but I hope you find it interesting!

Two things that I have found that help babies learn better than anything else-give them plenty of "tummy time" down on the floor with colorful toys in front of them, and talk to them. Not all that useless baby talk, but actually talk to them. All the time. Sing to them, read to them, talk to them. They will learn so much faster with just these two simple things.

pots and pans, books, anything is a learning tool. Everything they touch or see, they learn from. Interact with your baby a lot. Talk to him all the time. explain what's happening and what your doing all the time.

I would make things that he have to take apart or open. Also, Different Musical Toys, like a Xylophone, Recorder, Harmonica etc. AND, you have to have a Tonka Dump Truck to haul things.

Babies don't need t.v. or videos. They need lots of human interaction. Babies can see black and white colors best. They respond most to human faces. As they get older, let them have "tummy time." Just time on the floor on a blanket, this encourages them to roll over, and crawl.

time and attention. when you take walks talk about the things you see and the colors and even stop to count things. my youngest daughter could count to 18 at 15 months. also read to your child a lot and give them books that they can't ruin to play with.
