I've been broken up with my ex for 3 months now we were together for 2 years and I am still very much in love with her. I've tried meeting new girls and going on a couple of dates but when Im out I cant get her out of my head. To top it off I see her three times a week at practice. How long will this last?

There is no limit to grief. I have held a torch for someone for years-literally. AND I still get butterflies when I see him....AND WE never dated-just talked.

You shouldn't expect things to happen overnight. You were with her for two years and as with most relationships she becomes a part of you and visa versa. Some people can let go right away, usually due to some major event such as cheating etc. Others can't ever let go as things were so right when that person was there. It's like a death of a loved one but whereas you might always be remembering her through time the hurt will lessen. Sometimes also you just have to force your acceptance that something is over and push on. The important thing to realize is that you can love another just the same way and when you find this person, that IS out there, then your rememberance of the times with your ex will dwindle out of your mind and fade. You should realize that you are special and that it's her loss and decide to move on. Don't expect miracles in that you will forget her overnight but be thankful for the good times you had but do move on and accept that it's over and also realize that with any relationship breakup there is a period of recovery .. how long only you will be able to tell but you will find that love that will replace your hurt and love for her, in the future.

It will last as long as you allow it to last. No one can make you feel bad but you. No one can give you permission to feel that way but you. Check out some other programs going on in school, & don't concentrate on this girl, too much. The world is yours, you are young, & you don't want her to think that she's ruined you for all other women'! Get over it! Put on your big guy pants and Get over it! Things will unfold in time. Time doesn't heal, it just makes things easier to accept. Remember when one door closes, another opens. I hope this helps.

I was married for 23 years .My wife changed ,she lied ,stole and became an addict. i went through 13 years of hell.
You will get over your old ex.
Takes time . I have no interest in meeting anyone .
Don`t want that to happen to me again.
At least you still have a heart . Mine has been broken to the point where it won`t recover or let me fall in love again..

I didnt know guys could feel that way too, i thought only girls felt like that. Guys usually move on quickly....you've given me hope...time man...im going thru the same thing...i feel like i want to give up on life...but there is someone out there for you. Maybe if it is meant to happen it'll happen years down the road. Maybe you guys arent suppose to be together now, maybe later. Fate is an odd thing.

Try to get involved in helping people in life who have problems - really get involved in solving and helping. Nothing is worst than sitting at home lamenting about lost love. The best way to overcome your own problems is by helping someone else with a problem. Try it and you will be amazed... You don't want to go through life holding a pity party.
Good luck.

it'll go on as long as you let it.

Have you considered changing your "practice" habit?

Life *does* go on and ten yeras from now, you'll probably have forgotten the way it feels to you right now ... not that
you will forget *her*, just that the old cliche is pretty much true "time heals" ... you can helpk it along, or you can prolong the pain ... skillful choice would be to fake it if you have to to get on with your life.

Maybe you have to let yourself move on. You have probably
already made up your mind when you go on a new date that
you won't like her, she is not your ex etc. Let go and give
yourself a chance...you might be very glad that you did.

For a really really long time. You might get back with her or you might not.

You'll never have another good relationship with another woman if you're still in love with her.

stop smuthering yur self in guilt because the only reason why you feel you cant move on is because you think you caused the relationship to fail. brush yourself off and give yourself the time of day look beautiful and you see how fast you move on
