I have been using the free version for over a year and it seems to be more than adequate. If you want to help support the people who generously have made this great program free then buy it. I don't think the paid program has that much other features, though.

Go with the free version....Trust me...I have been using ad-aware for a while now(the free version) and its everything you need. I tried the full version of it too just a while ago, and it is definatly not worth it. It has a bunch of usless features that take up your memory. So the free verison is acually better.

I use the free version of Ad-aware and update it often, does a good job, I also use SpyBlaster to stop most of the junk thats out there before it gets on your computer, and last and its free and very good-Yahoo anti-spy! You must have this if you have yahoo tool bar.

There is no difference in the detection and removal of infections. The pay version gives you auto updates and some other setup options and addons that are not really needed.

The purchased version provides real time protection meaning if you download adware it will find it right away. If you run the free often it should be sufficent

Stick with the free version. I use it and it does the job very well.
You could also try complementing it with a second software.
"Spybot Search and Destroy" is very good, and free as well.
