Is it illegal to rent DVD's and make copies of them so you don't have to rent them again. But you just keep the copy at home and you don't sell them or anything. And you are paying to rent the movies in the first place.

I'm no lawyer but I seriously doubt that would be illegal if it is illegal than it is illegal to copy a movie from the television I think it is illegal to copy for redistribution or if you were to make a public showing where as you profit from it I know it is illegal to copy from the internet so i guess it could be but I am reasonably sure nobody is being charged for copying movies in there home from a rented dvd for personal use.... the offended party would be the film maker and how thay would ever know is beyond me and I cant imagine them prosicuting in such a case.

Download Bittorrent, but downloading movies is illegal and does a serious disservice to the movie industry. Why do movie tickets cost so much? Why are there 12 commercials before the movie starts? Why is Hollywood in such a state of flux?

i would say no it's not illegal because to the best of my knowledge. copyright laws are made to prevent the sale of a product that is legally being sold by other companies.when this is done it is considered to be a form of theft (better known as piracy)from the company that is legally selling the product(s).

If you look at the DVD before you copy it there is a rather long warning about COPYRIGHT infrengment. Try pausing the warning and READING it.
