i am not satiisfied with the answers. ABS was originally invented for aircraft, The landing speed of a commercial jet-with several hundred people on board- is comparable to the driving speeds of NASCAR, So I don't think speed is the issue.
Many crashes seem to be the result of a car locking a wheel and the driver surrendering to the laws of physics. So i will ask again, Why doesn't NASCAR use ABS?

have to add the computer system, different brake system. adds more weight than any driver wants. and no it doestn take away controll, that idiot doesnt know what they're talking about. ABS was designed to maintain controll when braking hard. ABS ALLOWS you to STEER when braking because it keeps the wheels moving.

ABS is good for aircraft. They are not meant to be primarily ground transport, they are meant to fly. On cars ABS is used primarily to try to make up for the lack of driving ability of MANY MANY drivers on the road today. Drivers that do have skill are still at the mercy of the dunderheads out there. Cars have more and more safety features but the drivers have less gray matter. Nice bright shiny new headlights and ***holes that won't turn them in the middle of a hard rain so they can be seen in the spray coming off the 18 wheeler tires. Huge taillights that ***holes won't change a burned out bulb. Fantastic all-weather radial tires and you see ***holes doing 90 MPH on wet/puddled pavement; that's when they re-learn the dynamics of hydro-planing. That just about where next week's roadside memorial will be. I don't like ABS. I got a 1933 Plymouth in the garage- it has a 6 volt electrical system for the headlites, one 6 inch long wiper blade, on the driver's side, one taillight-not two-and the driver side side view mirror is an add-on that I put on. Drive the car-any car-within its limits and you will be safe. A '33 Plymouth was not meant to be taken down I-90 at 75 MPH. People with little or no skill are not meant to be doing75 MPH around town. All that said, ask NASCAR why they run carburetors in the cars; all the production models are fuel injected.

A B S is for people that don't know how to drive. Nascar drivers are professional drivers. It was invented to keep Innocent people safe from people that panic and lock the brakes up when they get scared. It is a great invention because it does just that. Hope I have been helpful.

they dont need them. the drivers are strapped in their seat with a 5 point racing harness. The air bag would do nothing to protect the driver.

antilock brakes take complete control away from the driver...very dangerous to do that at 200 miles per hour.
