Seriously... what's the point of answering a question just to say "thanks for the two points" (or any of its variants)?
What's the fun in making the effort of typing a sentence just to mumble that incoherent phrase?
Is getting two imaginary points that nobody really cares about, really that fun?

I'm here because I get pleasure by expressing my opinion and/or helping somebody to solve an interrogant, but I really don't understand people that answer just to say "thanks for the two points", without actually adressing the question. Why are you here?
If you only care about getting points without giving correct responses, go play an internet game where points actually matter.
But, please, for God's sake, stop clogging the internet with your badly-typed, repetitive phrases.

I'm here because for some reason, it's strangely addictive to give advice to complete strangers. I guess because if I give bad advice they can't come after me. If I get a best answer, I actually am proud of myself. As losery( I know it's not a word) as it might sound, I know that my advice may have helped someone. I won't lie and say I don't partly do it for the points. But wouldn't you listen to someone who had so many points instead of someone who just asked questions? We turn this into a game and in some cases, the questions are meant to be entertaining. More often though, the questions are serious and the person wants an outside opinion. But I don't answer a question unless a) my response might actually help or b) the person just gets me so mad and the only way to avoid throwing the computer is to give a angry response. There's so many people on here that asks questions you can't even understand because of the typing and at the same time want us to solve their problems.

I'd say about half of the participants use this response! Too bad that is way too many for yahoo to do anything about! I don't think there should be a point system, but since there is, it could use a few alterations. I heard someone say something about worst answer. That would be great, knock off 100 points. People really don't care, there is always someone who wants to ruin something nice. A lot of people also will never have to "show their face" meaning they can say whatever they want, but no one knows their true identity! They can get away with anything, being on their worst behavior. I think people just need a little bit more dignity! And maybe a trip to etiquette school!!!

Its their sarcastic and snotty way of posting an answer because they do not know the answer.

I answer mostly computer related questions and I get really ticked off when I see people write that. I dont know why they have to answer the post if it does not pertain to them. They should just move on and get the 2 points somewhere else.

I always answer even the most craziest computer questions because I figure no matter how simple the question is, at least if I answer it seriously when I know the answer, then the poster will at least get a straight answer that can help him.

I agree, I do not think its fun and yes, they are clogging the internet with crap.

I looked at so many answers on here, not just your question, but many many questions., and I can't believe that some people really say the dumbest things. I agree with you, why do they come on here, just baffles me. I like to get involved with peoples questions and actually say something intelligent and hope I can help. Some people really need advice and I think its horrible the answers some people get. The cursing too, the name calling, totally unnecessary!! Makes me sick to even read some of the comments. I hope one day they don't need advice or help or feel what its like to need help. As far as pts. go, IS IT REALLY THAT IMPORTANT!!! This is not really what its all about. Its helping people if you can.

45 answers is HUGE! You hit a vein here, man. I am here for the same reasons you are, but I enjoy the points as much as the next "ty for the 2 pts" guy...... we all know we're just going to get a crotched bathtub or a free two breaths of air for our efforts. And I have to admit, some of the 2 ptrs. had some funny answers ! But hey, live and let live - who cares why they answer that way? Have FUN here - it's for FUN not to increase your chances of a heart attack.

I don't know how to respond here. I enjoy giving advice, but some of the questins that are posted here, are just begging for a short answer, and a quick 2 points. So I jump in on those too. I give very long detailed answers, and links to sites, but sometimes I see a question that is just begging for a quick answer, so I do it. It is like putting cake in front of someone on a diet. You know what I mean. "Thanks for the two points?" I hope I earned them. LOL

Great point. I like to relate to people and help some people solve problems. Like you said, if points are all that matter, then those people should go and play a game.

Another pet peeve of mine are the people that answer by asking why don't you go to such and such a place for the answer.
I thought that the purpose for Yahoo Answers was to get answers from other regular people.

Yes, I do agree with you. I am one of those who seriously wants to help people with their problems. I could really care a less about these points. As you can see there are a lot of troubled people out there that have many problems and are trying desperately to find the right answers to them. I am a wise old man who wants to help show them the right road to get on.
Take care and Happy Answering!!!!!!!!!!!

I couldn't agree more. I try to actually answer a question. I'm not doing it just for the points. If I think I have an answer that's relevant to the question, I'll give it. If not, I'll skip the question. I don't mind seeing an easy question with an answer and thanks for the 2 points after the answer. But to just answer thanks....is just such a waste of time.

,
second that,
mindless accumulation of points ,
lowers the standard and impairs motivation of other participants .
at first it was the odd answer that appeared ,but now this is getting all to frequent .

also questions which only say ,would you like 2 points ,or i will give you 10 points ,or who wants 10 points should be deleted as they offer nothing ,in terms of an answer .or something that says anything at all except utilize space and time.
it seems that some people have gone totally of the track as far as the concept of this program is concerned
