In the Mythology class I took last semester in college, we learned that folktales and myths were the basis for how each society acted. Things like honesty, morality, etc. are the basis of many stories, as these stories were told long before anything was written down.
It was the way people were taught how to behave, and what would happen to them if they did not behave!

Well, you could say Jason and the Argonauts would be a good one, because Jason told Medea that he would take her to his country and basically live happily ever after. When he goes back he does marry Medea and they had two sons, but after that Jason decided to marry another and cast Medea out to the outskirts of town. Well, since Medea was a sorceress she sent a robe to Jason's new wife which made Jason's wife basically melt. So, in my opinion, if Jason hadn't lied, he might actually be happy.

The Three Perfect Peaches would have to be it. It's funny, too. The hero even gets the king to kiss the rear of his royal steed! Serves him right! The hero is really honest;you'll see.

As a young child George Washington received a hatchet as a present. He cut down one of his fathers Cherry trees. His father came home and saw the tree and asked George, "who cut down my tree?" George replied " I cannot tell a lie, It was I father". He went on to become the first President of the United States.

One of my favorites is called The Goose Girl. It was in a fairy tale book of my grandmothers called The Blue Fairy Book. It was not a children's book by all means.
Here is a link to the story...
