Zarqawi was fighting because he saw the West as infidel invaders, enemies of Islam.
Why couldn't he see that we are the best friend of the Muslim? While his Muslim brethren kept silent while Saddam Hussein slaughtered hundreds of thousands of Iraqis, siphoned Iraq's wealth for his personal amusement, and made war on other Muslim countries (Iran, Kuwait) the U.S. stood up for justice and human rights.
When Muslims were being killed by Milosevic, who intervened? The United States. What the point of Islamic theocracies? They never lift a finger to protect the defenseless. Isn't that supposed to be at the core of every religion, to show compassion and help those who aren't strong enough to help themselves? I never hear any cry of outrage from Islamic fundamentalists about Muslim on Muslim violence. Did they say anything when Saddam gassed the Kurds?
The whole situation reminds me of a line from the movie MAME, when Lucille Ball and Beatrice Arthur sing "who but a true blue friend will tell you the whole stinking truth?" Well, guess is paving the way for Muslims to live with guaranteed human rights, in freedom and democracy, where women and be educated, vote, and have a career if they choose? It certainly isn't the "Muslim brotherhood". It's The United States of America.

Yes, and Bush will be posed as Judas. The cups will flow with blood and and, in the background, dead children will be be shoveled into a Humvee for delivery to the next state dinner in celebration of Mission Accomplished.
